Notes from New Delhi
These notes describe how questions tend to be filed and heard in New Delhi. They are a directory of general information. They are not a ranking and they are not an invitation to engage the firm.
Courts people actually name
The High Court of Delhi sits above the district judiciary. District courts sit at Tis Hazari, Patiala House, Saket, Karkardooma, Rohini and Dwarka. Family courts, magistrates, and the consumer commissions are separate lists. A paper filed in the wrong building is not heard faster because the facts are urgent.
Which court has the file depends on the statute, the place, and the value or the nature of the relief. A cheque complaint, a suit for possession, a writ, and a consumer complaint do not share one diary. The note for each subject records the distinction. This page only points to those notes.
