Lawfy & Co
A reading of papers, and what it is not
A factual note on the difference between reading general information, or sending a question, and an engagement with an advocate. No relationship arises from this page.
This page does not create a relationship
Reading the notes on this website is not an engagement. Sending a message is not, by itself, an instruction an advocate has accepted. An advocate-client relationship arises only when an advocate agrees to act, and it is subject to conflict, to the advocate’s enrolment, and to the rules of the Bar Council. Until that happens, a story sent to a general address should be written on the assumption that it is not a privileged instruction.
Rule 36 of the Bar Council of India Rules does not permit advertisement or solicitation. Rule 37 does not permit a person who is not an advocate to practise law, or to draft, file, or appear. Nothing on this website is an offer to do any of those things by correspondence. The notes are general information. They are not advice on a reader’s facts.
What a first reading can and cannot do
A first reading of papers can sort which statute is even in issue, which document is missing, and which date matters. It cannot honestly promise an outcome, a hearing date, or a fee for work that has not been identified. A question that arrives as “what are my chances” usually needs the document, not an adjective. The contact page lists office addresses and telephone numbers as directory information. It is not a brief.
Urgency is a fact about a limitation date or a hearing. It is not a reason to skip the document. A person who needs a court to act today needs a lawyer who can appear today. A web page cannot appear.
